Akkad family is considered one of the oldest and most prominent families engaged in business in Damascus, the oldest trading center for the oldest inhabited city in the world and known as the Gate of history. The late Anwar Akkad established his first company for garment production in 1935, 5 years followed he established another company trading in woolen cloth and suiting . In 1950, Mr. Akkad produced garments and requirements for the Syrian Army. So he expanded and modernized his factory, taking advantage of more automation technology.

 This company developed day by day to become one of the most important in Syria and continued for fifteen years supplying uniforms and related accessories to the army. The great level of success achieved by late Mr. Anwar Akkad became clear when investment was re-opened to private sector activity.
